URUAV Tophand Helping Hands

URUAV Tophand Helping Hands Review with Extra Attachments

If you have a soldering set, you most likely had the small helping hands with a black base and one steel bar with two alligator clips on the ends of that bar with a magnifying glass in the center.
You also know that’s not that great to work with larger PCB boards.   Good for small things like holding a wire but that’s about it.

I did some digging on Banggood and found a really nice pair of Helping Hands.   I found the URUAV Tophand Helping Hands.
These Helping Hands are designed with drones in mind but anyone with a soldering workbench would appreciate them.  One of the best things about it is you can find other attachments you might also want.   I picked up a magnifying glass, 6CM Fan and another type of light.

The Extra Attachments

I purchased 3 extras for this Helping Hands base.  These 3 are.

RJX RJX1739 USB Fan is a 6CM brushless fan. Far better than the 3CM fan the stand came with.
This fan is a tad loud if you do record it might pick it up.  This fan does pull a lot of air so the soldering smoke will go through it.

RJX 2080 USB Lamp is quite bright and extremely helpful when you need to see what you’re doing.
If you are working on large PCB’s You could pick up two of them.

Realacc 80mm Magnifying glass with the arm

The Realacc Magnifying glass is an interesting one.
This is an 80mm magnifier that zooms 10 times in. Extremely helpful at times.
I like how it comes with a handle if you want to keep it portable.
The handle has a dragon on it. Looks cool.  From the images on the website page, it just looks like a brown handle.  So yours might very.

I would say it’s downfall is the gold around the lens is plastic. This also means the threading is also plastic.
This means it could break if you over tighten it.   Should’nt be a problem though as it won’t move when just snug.
It does come with the arm so you can screw it on.

Pros.

  • Heavy Stand.  Weighs 494grams. That’s 1 pound.
  • Can hold 6 arms.
  • Can hold 1 soldering iron holder.
  • Arms are tuff and flexible.
  • The base comes with lots of extra attachments.
Sadly mine never did.  So keep an eye that you might not get them too from Banggood.

Cons.

  • Cannot hold 6 arms and 1 soldering iron holder at the same time as one of the arms can get in the way.
  • The base is tippy on one side as there are no rubber feet in the corners.
Simple fix though.  Just go buy some no-slip stoppers.
  • The original fan is kinda useless.  Sure it works but you need to pull a lot of air to get it to remove solder smoke.
  • Extra attachments don’t come with base attachments so you can attach it to the base.
  • If you don’t have much room on your bench or wherever you solder, this might be a problem.  It does take up a bit of room.  Usually 12H x 12L x 12W

Places To Purchase

I bought everything from Banggood.

Others I haven’t tried
